Join us on our first Saturday ride of the winter riding season! We will be exploring the former City Heights neighborhood. City Heights was formerly named Ida Spence Homes for the wife of former Congressman Brent Spence. Although it was a large housing project with 360+ units, many do not know it exists because it is hidden on top of hill overlooking the City of Covington. The land will soon be redeveloped. The Housing Authority of Covington contracted with Cincinnati-based business Yard and Co. to help market the site and seek public input through neighborhood meetings, community surveys and focus groups. It also sought input from the city.
Once the land is sold, all of the proceeds from the sale will be reinvested into the Housing Authority’s other properties, namely Latonia Terrace and Golden Tower, the latter of which serves largely as a form of senior housing.
Come with us to explore this fascinating and mysterious part of our city’s landscape!
