Ride For RedBike

  • Sawyer's Point 705 West Pete Rose Way Cincinnati, OH, 45203 United States (map)

As citizens of the Covington community and the broader Cincinnati area, we are sad to see that RedBike has decided to close down. While there is some movement in the community to try to get the city and/or other organizations to take on the costs, there is no guarantee that will happen.

RedBike has been a staple in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area and has provided nearly 100k rides (in 2022). The program takes in about $250k a year from fees, but that falls about $400-500k short of what it needs to be sustainable each year. To put that into perspective, the city of Cincinnati spends over $500k repaving a single lane-mile of road.

Some of the many benefits of a good bike share system is it is a great way to get exercise, it promotes healthier air, it is a great (and sometimes only) means of transportation for many people, and bikes are much quieter than automobiles.

What can you do?

If you are able, there will be a bike ride on Saturday, March 16 @ Noon. The ride will leave from Sawyer’s Point in Cincinnati (see map attached). We want as many people as possible to show up and to help the region know that we want to see the service saved and even expanded over the next few years.
